 River of the painted birds
The Uruguay River (Río Uruguay) flows from north to south and makes boundary with Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. It passes between the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. It forms the eastern border of the provinces of Misiones, Corrientes and Entre Ríos in Argentina; and makes up the western borders of the departments of Artigas, Salto, Paysandú, Río Negro, Soriano and Colonia in Uruguay.

 The Rio Uruguay Uruguay has a surface area of approximately 68'000 square miles (176.212 km2) and is located in the southern region, in the warmest sub-zone. It is bordered on the north and northeast by Brazil; on the west and south by Argentina, across the Uruguay River (Rio Uruguay) and the Rio de la Plata - the Silver River - and on the east by the Atlantic Ocean.
